I
created Deep Journey Tours so I can share with like-minded people the richness
of what I enjoy best in travel. A keen interest in the underlying
spiritual/cultural nature of native people inspires and motivates my travel.
One
can read about Tikal, the Well of Brigit, Four Knocks or Maccu Picchu, or see it
on TV. But to actually be there is a life enhancing, profound experience beyond
any words. To experience the place through the insights, mythology, storytelling
and enchanting wit of a visionary person who is our indigenous guide is
incredible magic.
Deep
Journey Tours and the women who make up each group are a memorable experience
for the group as well as for me. I do intensive research before and during each
tour, so that we can spend our time traveling and exploring with the most
knowledgeable of local guides and staying at the most memorable and hospitable
places.
Each tour is different, especially since
each takes on the character of the participants as well as the place. Groups are
kept small.
One
of my main interests and joys - after my daughter and my friends, of course - is
to experience the timeless energies and magic of places dear to Mother Earth and
to those whose spirituality is earth-based. Besides being a tour guide, my other
interests are medicinal herb gardening and the study and practice of ancient
traditions and rituals, especially as they are still performed today.
Professionally, I am an artist (M.A.), gemologist (G.G.), jewelry designer, and
online high school teacher as well as a tour guide. Since 1982, I’ve had my
business, Gem Quest Designer Jewelers and Gallery in Ojai, California, where I
live.

My
fascination with gemstones and folk-art has lead me to travel to Sri Lanka,
India and Thailand. I have traveled
to over twenty-five countries. With Deep Journey Tours, I travel two or three
times a year as guide to sacred sites and festivals in Ireland, Central and
South America; Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Puerto Escondidos, Mexico and
‘Day of the Dead’ festival in Oaxaca, Mexico.
